Yang Family Tai Chi Kung
This is an introductory course for Yang Style Taijiquan (tai chi) which is one of the most widely practiced styles in the world. Tai Chi Kung is a 10 movement form designed by the lineage holder of Yang Family Tai Chi, Master Yang Jun. The Yang style is known for its circular movements practiced in a slow even pace. We will do a variety of warm-ups to help with blood flow, flexibility, balance, and strength. You will also learn the 10 Essential Principles of Taijiquan.
Introduction to Tai Chi & Tai Chi Walking
Learn how to use movement, self-massage, meditation and breath work to turn on your body's ability for healing, endurance and longevity. We will practice a qigong form as a warm up, then work on a five-movement modified tai chi form that's easy to learn and beneficial right from the start. Because all of the movements can be performed sitting down, adults of all ages and physical abilities can participate. As time allows, we'll incorporate tai chi walking, qigong for the eyes and arthritis moves for the arms and shoulders.
Tai Chi Easy ™
Tai Chi Easy ™ is an arrangement of up to nine movements from the traditional tai chi 108-movement long form. The movements are simplified and are performed repetitively, keeping the practice light-hearted with the focus on awakening the body's healing resources.
Tai Chi Easy ™ for Overall Balance and Stress Relief
Our bodies hold our stress, resulting in blocked energy which disrupts the flow of our chi - our life force energy. Through gentle flowing movement, we get the chi flowing, resulting in a connection between our mind and body. Our thoughts become clear, and our inner knowing ignites the body's self-healing ability that's often masked in today's stressful world. A calm, meditative state of mind and improved balance is achieved through these gentle, flowing movements. All of these moves can be performed standing or sitting, allowing anyone to participate. Beginners will find the class easy to follow. Returning participants will have the opportunity to deepen their practice. As time allows, we will practice tai chi walking -- coordinating flowing movements of the arms with a very mindful walking pattern. When necessary, students may practice this portion while sitting down and down and moving their legs in a simulated walking movement with the arm movements.
Therapeutic Qigong in a Chair ©
Therapeutic Qigong in a Chair © is an adaptation of the Eight Pieces of Brocade, allowing for performance while seated, making this form appropriate for people of all ages and most degrees of ability. This is a form of medical qigong, which offers a way of balancing one's energy, strengthening tendons, and improving bone strength while focusing on the breath and calming the mind. These exercises have been developed with the guidance of psychiatrists, physical therapists, neurologists, and recreation therapists as a means of daily physical activity.
Qigong For Optimal Health
Qigong classes focus on increasing flexibility, mobility, and balance while releasing chronic tension and realigning the body's posture allowing for an increased flow of vital energy and nutrients to support the body. We practice a variety of movements from silk reeling, swimming dragon, 9 phases of qi and 7 precious gestures and shibashi.
Sheng Zhen Healing Qigong
Sheng Zhen Healing Qigong is referred to as Qigong of Unconditional Love. This form is practice while sitting down. We will practice the 10 movement form of session 1 called the Gathering of Healing Qi from the Universe. These 10 movements will help to squeeze out the murky and diseased Qi ( energy), exchange Qi Between the body and the universe, loosen the internal organs allowing the Qi to work more efficiently, and balance the Qi to make it more stable and remain in the body.
